Tips To Reduce Computer Eye Strain

In our daily lives, we are constantly bombarded with information about how to take care of our physical health including skin, hands, feet, and hair. Unfortunately, we come across very few articles, blogs, or reels on social media that talk about eye health. That’s a shame given the fact that how much we rely on our vision and eyes for our daily tasks in our lives. 

Just give this fact a thought that shows how much your eye functions from the moment you wake up daily to the time you close your eyes for nighttime sleep. This makes it necessary to take care of your eyes. Adopting a few habits given in this article will help you save your eyes from eye problems in the future. 

  1. Anti-Blue-Light Glasses

We spend a lot of time on screens for work, study, or entertainment purposes. The blue light that comes out of gadgets to the eyes and may even lead to eye strain. For this purpose, those people who have high usage of computers, mobile phones, or television screens must use special glasses that have a slight yellow tint. These glasses help minimize the amount of blue light that might enter your eyes. Moreover, now there are plenty of computers available in the market which help reduce eye strain as they emit less amount of blue light from their screens. 

  1. Have Regular Eye Tests

Once a year an eye exam must be a part of your life, even if you have no apparent eye problem. Regular checkups with the eye doctor are good for maintaining good vision. A good optometrist or ophthalmologist is the right professional to carry out the examination of the eye and look for any changes that might not be evident. They can help detect any eye problem like glaucoma, cataracts, and more.

  1. Good lighting

While working on screens it is a must to have good lighting in that room. Dim light or dark rooms will only negatively impact your eyes. As in bad lighting, the eyes struggle to adjust according to the brightness of the screen as the rest of the room is dark. Therefore, while working on laptops or using another screen make sure that the room has adequate lighting.

  1. Regular Screen Breaks

Furthermore, it is mandatory to give your eyes some rest while working consecutively on screens. Try the 20-20 rule. According to this, after every 20 minutes of work on screen, look at a distant point with a focus for 20 seconds. And keep on repeating this. Moreover, make sure to blink your eyes more often as it will help replenish the moisture on the surface of the eye. Use eye drops to lubricate your eyes and prevent dryness. 

  1. Eat A Healthy Diet

For good eye health, essential nutrients and antioxidants must be a mandatory part of your diet. Try to have a balanced diet containing red meat, vegetables, oysters, poultry, zinc, etc to keep your eye retina healthy. Vegetables like spinach, kale, peas, and carrots are considered healthy for eye development.
